An excerpt from The Being Midwife; one of my most widely shared spoken word poems.
I’ve performed this poem both nationally and internationally.
It features gorgeous ethereal imagery and makes a great gift for a special midwife to let her know you appreciate her work.
Words from the Poem Excerpt
“No-one even said a word
During contractions all was quiet
A cloak of trust enwrapped the place
Allowing full concentration
This was my space.
My birth attendants sheathing me from believing each surge was bigger than myself
Heeding the wisdom of our ancestral mothers
Those mothers who got us here
With a midwife who showed no fear.”
