This poster is the ‘goddess midwife’ version of ‘The Being Midwife’
I thank Stephanie Green for creating the imagery for my words.
Perhaps this is great gift for a special midwife to let her know you appreciate her work.
The poem ‘The Being Midwife’ is inspired by the thesis of the inspirational midwife Dr Tracey Cooper.
Tracey’s thesis looks at how many midwives start off as ‘goddesses’ but get lured in by technology and machines that go beep. And when they’re done they turn into technological ‘cyborgs’.
The woman needs to come before technology.
The poem was inspired by Emma Healey, the midwife who was present at the birth of my second child, the one on BBC1’s Childbirth: All Or Nothing
