Do your homework. Get a good neurosurgeon who can show you on an MRI why you need the surgery. I just had a posterior laminectomy and fusion. Yes, it hurt, but I was given plenty of narcotics.

With all my heart fill with gratitude I wana say thanks to Madidaherbalcenter on YouTube for curing me of my herpes zoster with the herbal remedies.
So this is what edge been through
It really all comes down to the surgeon. i have known many that have had this done. a lot of them still in pain many year later. i was lucky enough my wife's mother at the time was a RN and was friends a Neurosurgeon who just so happened to be one of 10 on the president of the united states list at that time for brain and spinal surgery. He did mine 25 years ago and from day one not a single pain with it. So i do believe it has a lot to do with the surgeon as to how successful the procedures is… do your research on your selected surgeon not just word of mouth.
What a primitive repair! Removing degrees of freedom like that is pathetic.
…so, after this procedure there is nothing protecting the spinal column posterior side?!? That sucks.
*cervical laminectomy fusion*
I’m almost 3 months in and if I move a certain way or get a hug (not even a tight hug) I get vibrations down my entire body or in the palm of my hands or legs … I’m a bit scared ? Unsure if this has happen to anyone?!
This looks more like what would have been quickly done in some ww2 basement emergencies than what could be expected nowadays. Especially in view of the invoice.
Try and take good care of your body and don't abuse it with over work or doing stupid stuff. A very good friend loved to ride the old stiff tail harleys. Did it for decades until he got the horrible neck pain. After 3 different operations like this he lives in horrible pain.
well …had it done to fix one problem unfortunately left me with so many more issues now with the feet arms and legs and throat left me with headaches that i wish on no one and i forgot the best part i am left with cervical dystonia im now 10 years in and my quality of life suffers so get educated…please
Up
I'm having This done on C2 through T2 I wonder if it's going to hurt much
I had C5 & C6 Compression surgery.
It's bad when you wake up because of the tube down your throat
This is stupid, basically spinal chord is left bare so that any possible injury can affect it, anterior approach is better!
Has anybody ever heard of that surgery being done and not putting the rods and screws??
All the comments suggest this procedure is a bit too complicated for most doctors and they end up fucking it up. Look for a really good doctor if you'll be having this operation or you'll regret it
just had done nov 9th
I recommend whoever has to in have this surgery don’t and try everything not to
can you do something for spinal cord injury?
Iam 20 year old and c4 c5 herniated disk make my life as a hell

This certainly is a surgery that should only be undertaken after you have already exhausted all other treatments, and are still having symptoms. I had an ACDF five years before I had this procedure. It was a much easier recovery. They removed both discs between C4 and C6, placed cadaver bone in to stimulate healing, and plated the three vertebrate together. Ultimately, the C4-C5 cadaver bone was resorbed, leaving nothing holding those two vertebrate in place, other than hardware. I was again having numbness, burning and tingling down my arms, and burning in my upper back. My only choice was to have the posterior surgery to stabilize my cervical spine. The hand and arm issues were improved ( not eliminated), but the post op period has been very tough. I also have lost strength in my shoulders, neck and arms. I have muscle spasms and cramping in my neck and shoulders, most of the time. Unfortunately, My profession requires me to "look down" most of the time. I have no doubt that is what caused my problems initially, and caused the first surgery to fail.
Wait so if they remove the bone covering your spinal cord, can you damage it from hitting the back of your neck?
I was in pain before the surgery but nothing compares to the pain I have lived with after the surgery now for 14 years nonstop 24 seven pain!
My husband is having this surgery today C3 through C7 I hope it works and relieve his suffering
I have this and it works I’m alive and walking since 2015
Good day, I would like to use this video to share on a neurosurgeon's website here in South Africa. Can I share it and give credit via a backlink to your website?
