So many people don’t know what a doula is and I would like to see this changing.
When you’re pregnant and visiting the midwife for the first time, I would like to see the possibility of having a doula being mentioned at that first appointment.
The evidence for them is great. Fewer c-sections and shorter labours for a start. They can provide information and emotional and practical support on your birth journey.
So what kind of doula am I?
As a doula, I am here to support you.
Pregnancy can be a wonderful, miraculous time but it can also provoke worries and anxieties. Perhaps you would like someone who understands to walk this path with you.
Should you have doubts or worries, we can go through these together so by the time your birth comes around you will be more prepared.
I’m down with all kinds of births; planned c-sections, epidurals, hospital births, home births, births in birth centres.
I can make you aware of the choices available to you and ask questions that encourage you to listen to and trust your intuition.
I can help you to steer a course of your own making, rather than becoming lost in the system.
Knowing your rights, the right questions to ask and where to get the answers can be really helpful when preparing for the birth you want.
And just to reiterate, I will be fully supportive of your choices, wherever and however you choose to give birth.
My role is flexible and my support package can be tailored to you and your family.
If you think we could be a good fit or you know of someone who is pregnant, do contact me to arrange an interview:-)
